Use & Durability

Managing product-use impacts and extending product life.

How is this calculated?

History

Level 1: Build a foundation and set ambitions

VIVOBAREFOOT has maintained its Use and Durability strategy and has a process to review progress against its commitments. The brand also has a mechanism to monitor customer returns due to product faults, accurately monitor the root causes and communicate back to its product development team. There is still an opportunity to make explicit distinctions between a standard care label and a care label with environmental benefits. These foundational activities have resulted in a level 1 score of 78%.

Level 2: Make steady progress

VIVOBAREFOOT’s strategy commitments are assigned to specific senior roles, with involvement and support from its CEO. VIVOBAREFOOT has identified roles that influence use and durability of products and ensures all these roles are trained on relevant topics. The brand educates consumers on reducing environmental impacts from product care through information online, in stores and on its products. As a result, the brand has been awarded a level 2 score of 81%.

Level 3: Adopt best practice

VIVOBAREFOOT has an established programme, the Direct Inject Programme, focused on increasing the life span of its products and has set specific targets and timelines. The brand encourages customers to extend the life span of their products through its repair service, which is offered to customers online. There is room for the brand to further adopt closed-loop principles while designing products and further incentivise staff to achieve use and durability targets and set remediation process for missed targets, resulting in a level 3 score of 56%.
